Take better care of yourself - 5 relaxing or energizing ideas!

It's so important to take care of yourself, both physically and mentally. We easily forget it, so it's good to set a little reminder at least once a week, and force yourself to do it as if it were an appointment. In our rush, we often put ourselves aside, but it always ends up catching up with us! (Well yes, it rhymes!) So here are some ideas, in case you ever lack the willpower or imagination to come up with some. (I swear I'm not doing it on purpose!)

1. Stop and listen to yourself - Relaxing

In case you need permission: It's totally okay to do absolutely nothing. Sometimes we need moments of laziness, moments where we do absolutely nothing productive, where we do nothing but breathe. It feels good. You don't have to feel guilty because you could be doing XYZ. If you feel tired, it's a sign that your body is telling you to slow down a little, or to stop for a while. Listen to your body and your needs; it's not selfish to do so.

2. Self-care - Relaxing

Here I'm going into the obvious solutions, but which always feel good: take a bath, light a candle, do your beauty or care ritual, watch your favorite movie under the covers, eat comfort food , get a massage, go to the spa, do your favorite activity, a little shopping session... All the answers are good, go with what recharges you the most.

3. Cleaning - Energizing (or relaxing for some)

It's been proven that a messy house can have a strong impact on our anxiety levels. I'm probably not the only one who feels good when the house is perfectly clean, the kitchen sparkling, and all the knick-knacks put away. Want a trick to keep the house clean? Every time I get up or move around, I grab something nearby and put it away. Also: I never put an item on the table or counter; I put it right away. It only takes a few extra seconds, and it prevents too much stuff from piling up everywhere!

And, my last tip: sort through and get rid of everything you don't use. Your house will be much easier to organize if you live a little more minimalistically! Less stuff = more peace of mind.

4. Do an outdoor activity - Energizing

Ahhh vitamin D! That magical little element that gives us a little boost of energy, especially in the middle of winter when we're stuck indoors. Go for a walk, skate, ski, whatever, as long as you get some fresh air and sunshine. It's cold right now, yes, but once you're inside with a hot chocolate, you'll see the benefits.

Otherwise, find an indoor activity, it doesn't matter what, as long as you get out of the house a bit. It always feels good to get out of your comfort zone, or at least change your surroundings a bit.

5. Socialize - Energizing

We all need human contact, to socialize. Sometimes, especially in winter, we get into the routine of work, shoveling, sleep, and we forget that we don't need a terrace to get together with our friends! There are quite a few germs running around right now, so if you can't see your loved ones in person, give them a quick call!
