From a grandmother's recipe from Iles-de-la-Madeleine, we have created unique caramels that will satisfy your sweet tooth.

The adventure began in 2017 when three young entrepreneurs and friends have given themselves the challenge of reviving the love of caramel in Quebecers. It was after tasting the famous butter caramel of Gertrude, the grandmother of one of the co-founders, that they decided to share this delight with Quebec (and soon the rest of the world)! The year 2021 marks the beginning of a new chapter for Samuel, as his two partners have turned to new challenges. Surrounded by his passionate and dedicated team, Samuel makes sure to maintain the original mission of the company: to bring you back to childhood with our delicious caramels made in Quebec.

Mamie Gertrude, warmly called Mémé by his grandchildren, is the face behind the origin of our caramel. It was in the 1980s that Gertrude developed her toffee recipe, and it was only a few years later that Gertrude and her partner, Elphège (aka Pépé), marketed their family's beloved toffee recipe. Recognized by Madelinots for her Les Produits Kara-mel brand, Gertrude cooks, prepares and pots what she calls gold. In 2017, she passed the torch to her grandson and her two friends, and then saw the birth of La Lichée. Today, when Gertrude is not packing our little threesomes, she loves her favorite hobby: playing cards!
