The story begins in 1872 when Louis Monna founded an eponymous house specializing in the production of wines and spirits in Hérault, France. Around 1925, his son Émile founded the Source la Monnaguette distillery, which produced spirits and lemonades, while his sister Louise took over the family business with her husband, continuing its mission under the name Pin-Monna Successeur.
Proud of this heritage, Émile Monna Jr. set sail for Quebec, where he taught the basics of the trade to his children, including Bernard, founder of Cassis Monna & Filles. The 5th generation of liqueur makers, Catherine and Anne are now ensuring the longevity of the estate.
