5 Astuces pour vivre un cocooning parfait

5 Tips for a Perfect Cocoon

I immigrated from the French Riviera to Quebec 18 years ago and people always ask me how I managed to trade sunshine for freezing winters.

I simply answer: "I love being able to experience two distinct periods in a year, the festivities during the summer and cocooning in the winter." For me, it's a luxury to be able to experience all of this without traveling and with each season, I find it magnificent to see how nature changes, and we, humans, how we adapt so easily!

Do you find it a little more difficult?
Here are 5 tips to help your mindset become my mindset:
  1. Put away everything that doesn't concern the winter season.
Make space and live in the moment! Put sunscreen, mosquito repellent, little dresses, camisoles, etc. in bins. But keep swimsuits and flip-flops accessible in case you go to the spa ;)

  2. Find a candle, an incense, an essential oil to diffuse. The smell in a home is very important, it's our environment, it must smell good and you must feel good there. This season, I fell in love with the fresh bread candle, I love it because it eliminates all bad odors!
  3. Declutter and sort through what we have. With winter, we're staying home more often, so make your environment a healthy space, free from visual pollution.

  4. Make a list of activities you would like to do in winter. Summer isn't the only fun, winter is too! You just have to experience it and not be a victim of it ;) And let's not put pressure on ourselves, it can be very simple: go skating at the Old Port, snowshoeing in the park across the street, try a new restaurant, make a photo album, watch a certain movie, read a book, etc.

  5. Do a grocery shop of things that will take care of you. For me, it looks like: hot chocolate , the new Allo Simonne spread , a good book, a clay mask (and yes, Christine the beauty queen influences me!), easy-to-make dishes , a really soft "comforter" style blanket, a puzzle and a family board game (which I haven't found yet)

And you, how do you welcome the cocooning season with open arms? What do you do to fully experience it?
